The Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) aims to develop multilingual, globally-focused students who are committed in building greater cross-cultural awareness worldwide. The MIIS is a private graduate school located in Monterey California. It specializes on the study of international policy-making, language education, business, translation and interpretation, research and service. The Monterey Institute was established in 1955. Currently, there are about 700 students enrolled in its four prestigious schools. One of the most celebrated school of MIIS is the Fisher Graduate School of International Business. The Fisher Graduate School of International Business (FGSIB) offers a wide array of programs that prepare professionals to the challenges of the changing global environments of the 21st century. The FGSIB gained AACSB International accreditation in 2002. In July 10, 2007 it was also featured by MSN.com as one of the “Top B-Schools for Aspiring Entrepreneurs”. The Fisher Graduate School is reputed for their distinctive and personal MBA Program. There is the Advanced Entry MBA which can be taken by students with previous academic backgrounds in business; Two Year MBA for those with little or no experience in business. Only FGSIB offers an MBA in conjunction with the US Peace Corps. Students too are encourage to take complementary courses in the areas of international environmental policy, international trade policy, public and non-profit management, and business localization. Moreover, new and improved courses are established yearly in response to changing demands of the global economy.
