In some companies, HR specialists will also be responsible for handling questions and problems for all employees. You may work on payroll, help manage the company’s benefits, and even potentially train workers in certain areas.

Employment, Recruitment, and Placement Specialist

Average Pay: $43,421 annually.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in human resources. Interest in psychology or business management can also be helpful.

An employment, recruitment, and placement specialist focuses specifically on the hiring process. These HR professionals, who are often simply called recruiters, seek out people to hire. Your job would entail searching for – or recruiting – individuals looking for work who would be a good match for available openings. You’d participate in screening, interviewing, testing, and even reference checking for potential new hires.

Compensation and Benefits Manager

Requirements: A degree in human resources and experience in management. As a manager’s role, this job often requires a few years of experience in other HR roles.

Compensation and benefits managers are more experienced human resources professionals. In this job role, you’d oversee the compensation – or payroll – and employee benefits for an entire company and its many divisions. You would help employees answer questions about pay and benefits, facilitate communication between the company and the benefits providers, and work with insurance brokers or investment managers. 

Compensation and benefits managers can also design compensation plans and help create incentives for employees, such as bonuses and other perks. 

Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Analyst

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in human resources and knowledge of or experience working with information systems. 

A human resources information system (HRIS) analyst handles a more unique side of HR: the technological and data management aspects. HRIS analysts coordinate and implement changes to the HR department’s systems. For example, if employees use a specific portal or software to manage their benefits, the HRIS analyst would explain any changes or updates there.

Employee Assistance Plan Manager

Average Pay: $101,298 per year.

Requirements: A human resources bachelor’s degree, as well as a master’s in human resources management. Five years or more working in the HR field are also often required.
